Alex Mathenge announces exit from content creation, puts social media pages up for sale

Kenyan actor and content creator Alex Mathenge has announced that he is quitting social media, saying he wants to step away from the digital space and pursue a more ordinary working life.
Mathenge shared the announcement on his Instagram Stories on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, explaining that his decision comes after a period of personal change. He also revealed that he plans to sell his social media pages to an interested individual or company.
Mathenge says women influenced his decision
In one of the posts, Mathenge directly addressed what he described as the reason behind his decision to leave social media.
“I am quitting social media because of WOMEN!” he stated.
He went on to explain that he wants a simpler lifestyle away from the demands associated with being a public figure.
“I just want to be in a normal job like anyone else, behind a desk and be happy in the evening,” Mathenge said.
The content creator further claimed that his experiences with women had contributed to his decision, writing, “Women brought me down, I dont want social media anymore!”
Opens up about his sobriety
Mathenge also used the posts to respond to questions about his state of mind and personal journey, stressing that his decision was being made while he felt mentally well.
“For those asking, I am making this decision while at my best mental capacity!” he wrote.
He also disclosed that he has been sober for 20 months, describing the period as a positive chapter in his life.
“I am very sober! This is the second year of being sober! 20 months of sobriety and loving it,” Mathenge stated.
He added, “A lot has changed guys,” showing that his lifestyle and outlook have changed.
Plans to sell his social media pages
As part of his decision to leave the digital space, Mathenge said he intends to sell his social media platforms.
“In that regard, I am selling all my social pages to an interested person or company,” he announced.
He listed Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and his YouTube channel among the platforms he is putting up for sale.
The announcement marks a change for Mathenge, whose career has been closely connected to online content and entertainment. While he did not reveal what he plans to do after leaving social media, his remarks indicate that he is looking towards a quieter routine and a conventional job away from the spotlight.
