Tim Wanyonyi thanks Westlands constituents as he eyes Bungoma gubernatorial seat

Westlands Member of Parliament (MP) Timothy Wanyonyi has publicly expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Westlands Constituency, emphasising his continued dedication even as he transitions focus to his home county. Bungoma
In a statement shared on his official X account on Monday, July 28, 2025, Wanyonyi stated that he still has two years left to serve and remains fully committed to walking the journey with them, even as he prepares to serve Bungoma County.
He added that he would always carry them in his heart and emphasised that they are, and will always remain, one family.
“Asanteni sana, the great people of Westlands Constituency. I still have two years to serve you, and I remain fully committed to walking this journey with you. Even as I prepare to serve Bungoma County, I will always carry you in my heart. We are and will always remain, one family,” he said.
Wanyonyi has represented Westlands Constituency in three successive terms since his election in 2013.

Gubernatorial bid
After officially declaring his interest in the gubernatorial seat, Wanyonyi pledged to serve the people of Bungoma without discrimination if elected as the third governor of the populous western county.
In a statement shared on his X page on Saturday, July 19, 2025, the politician vowed to lead an all-inclusive administration that caters to the needs of all nine constituencies, regardless of their social and cultural backgrounds.
“Bungoma County belongs to the people. No leader owns it. We must therefore value ALL and include ALL. From Mt Elgon, Sirisia, Kabuchai, Kimilili, Tongaren, Webuye East, Webuye West, Kanduyi to Bumula – they are the rightful owners. Our part as leaders is to serve with dignity, transparency and accountability,” a statement on X from Wanyonyi read.

“I know you come from different Saccos. I will not discriminate along tribal or religious lines. I would take you as you are, and I will work with and listen to everyone,” he said to a group convened to meet him
The Westland MP’s sentiments come a day after he opened up on his decision to enter the fray of Bungoma politics.
Wanyonyi’s shift from Nairobi politics has already received key endorsements. A group of eight Bungoma Members of Parliament, led by Sirisia MP John Waluke, publicly declared support for his prospective gubernatorial bid, characterising him as a leader with integrity and vision.
