Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has told off former DP Rigathi Gachagua, cautioning the politician that his bid to lead the country as president remains doomed.

Speaking during a burial ceremony on Friday, August 1, 2025, Sudi observed that the former DP should tone down his rhetoric aimed at sowing division among Kenyans after he failed to serve the nation when serving as the second in command.

“I want to tell Gachagua that Ruto is going nowhere and he will never rule this country unless he uses the backdoor. I want to tell him that if Ruto gets elected for a second time, you have to start preparing for your burial. I have seen that you are now under much pressure. You were given an office and failed, and you are now just bickering around and spewing tribal talk,” he said.

Sudi further warned against perpetuating tribal politics, stating that Kenyans must remain united and enjoy the right to reside in any part of the country.

He particularly challenged politicians and the men of cloth to take a leading role in advocating for peaceful coexistence among communities.

“If you’re a Kikuyu and you live in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu, that’s your home. This politics of saying our people”—where do you want to take the people who have been born here to? We suffered so much as a community here in Eldoret during the post-election violence, and we cannot allow a return to those days,” he added.

You cannot be speaking all the time of our people, our people in every forum you attend,” he emphasised.

His remarks come days after Gachagua hit back at politicians for castigating his ongoing tour of the United States of America.

Tribal rhetoric

Speaking on July 20, 2025, during an engagement with the diaspora community, the DCP leader termed the assertion that he had exported tribal rhetoric abroad as desperate moves from a political class rattled after witnessing the unity among the Gikuyu community following his reception in the States.

“You have seen since I came here; they are all in a panic. I heard Musalia accusing me of exporting tribalism to America because I am simply talking to my people. Let them also talk to their people,” he stated on Sunday, July 20, 2025.

“They are all attacking me after realising our unity as a community is worldwide,” he stated.

Gachagua also spoke on the need for an honest assessment of the trajectory the country is taking, rather than hiding from that debate.

“I have heard them shouting and attacking me, saying that I am talking badly about my country abroad. I am just talking about what is happening in my country. I am only talking about poor leadership. Kenya is a beautiful country, but with poor leadership. We have to be honest with ourselves. I cannot sit here and lie to you that things are going well. I will be a liar,” he added.
