Manchester United confirm the signing of Carlos Baleba from Brighton

Manchester United have officially announced the signing of Cameroon international Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion, with the transfer still awaiting registration.
The 22-year-old midfielder has agreed to a contract running until June 2031, with the club holding an option to extend the deal by another 12 months.
Baleba arrives at Old Trafford having built a strong reputation as one of the Premier League’s promising midfield talents. His performances during the 2024/25 campaign highlighted his defensive and ball-carrying abilities, with his combined tackles and interceptions ranking sixth among midfielders in the competition.
He also finished fourth for progressive carries per 90 minutes.
The Cameroon international featured 31 times in the Premier League last season and ranked among the league’s top eight per cent for tackles and interceptions combined. He was even more impressive when competing for second balls, placing inside the top one per cent in that category.
His contribution helped Brighton secure qualification for the UEFA Conference League.
Baleba expresses pride after joining United
Speaking after completing his move, Baleba expressed his excitement at joining the 20-time English champions.

Manchester United football director Jason Wilcox believes the new arrival has the qualities required to make a significant contribution to the squad.

Baleba now becomes part of Manchester United’s midfield options as the club continues preparations for the 2026/27 campaign, with expectations high that the young Cameroon star can develop into a key figure at Old Trafford.
