Allies of Deputy President William Ruto in Ukambani have urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to dissolve Parliament as advised by Chief Justice David Maraga.

Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka and former senator Johnson Muthama were adding their voices to the chorus of advice given to President Kenyatta since CJ Maraga issued the advisory.

Maraga issued the advisory following Parliament’s failure to enact legislation to effect the two-third gender rule envisioned in the Constitution.

“As long as we are ready to go back to the ballot, the President should also prepare to do the same, respect the Constitution,” Munyaka said.

Muthama, on the other hand, defended Maraga said he issued the directive in honour of the Constitution.

The senator, who is eyeing the Machakos governor’s seat, said that lawmakers should be ready to bite the bullet because there is no turning back on constitutional matters.

Muthama said that Ukambani leaders who are allied to his political camp will campaign against the implementation of the Building Bridges Initiative.

He said the main objective of the movement was only aimed at the sharing of top seats by certain individuals at the expense of the majority of Kenyans.

“We shall do what it takes to resist this initiative which is aimed at dividing Kenyans for the benefit of few leaders,” said Muthama.
