Opposition politician Raila Odinga on Wednesday met with women leaders, including Governors Charity Ngilu and Anne Waiguru in talks that centered on post-Covid-19 recovery and referendum push.

“[I] met with women leaders drawn from all political parties to discuss issues including the Post-COVID 19 scenario, gender matters in the ongoing constitution amendment debate and national unity as being key for the recovery of our country,” said Raila in a brief statement shared on his Twitter handle.

The former Prime Minister said that the country is reeling from three disasters: Covid-19 pandemic, locust invasion and floods.

“The post-Covid-19 period will require massive resource mobilization to repair our country. This period will require unity of purpose. A strategy is being designed but it requires the cooperation of everybody. Our people are dying, they are losing their loved ones,” said Raila.

Other women leaders who attended the meeting with Raila are Public Service and Gender Cabinet Secretary Margaret Kobia, her Chief Administrative Secretary Rachel Shebesh, and nominated MP Cecily Mbarire.
