The National Police Service (NPS) has confirmed that six cows stolen from Isiolo North Sub-County have been recovered following a swift operation by a multi-agency security team in Samburu County.

In a statement shared on their X account on Friday, August 8, 2025, NPS reported that the livestock had been stolen from Attan Location in Ngaremara Ward and were successfully tracked down on August 7, 2025, in the Lorkerded area of Laresoro Sub-Location, within Waso East Location.

“A swift response by a multi-agency security team on August 7, 2025, led to the recovery of six stolen cows from Attan Location, Ngaremara Ward, in Isiolo North Sub-County,” the statement read.

According to the authorities, the recovery operation was initiated after the team received credible intelligence on the movement of the stolen animals, enabling officers to intercept the culprits before they could transport the cows further into Samburu.

“Acting on credible intelligence, officers tracked the stolen livestock and made a successful recovery in Lorkerded area,” NPS said.

Following the recovery, the cows were escorted to Archers Post Police Station, where they are being held pending collection by their rightful owners.

Similar operation

This incident follows a recent manhunt initiated for individuals responsible for livestock theft in West Pokot County, where authorities successfully recovered twenty-seven (27) goats.

In a statement posted on their official X account on Monday, August 4, 2025, the NPS revealed that a multi-agency security team, supported by elders from Lochakula Sub-Location, managed to recover the stolen goats from Lochakula Sub-Location in Masol Location, Pokot Central Sub-County.

“A multi-agency security team, supported by elders from Lochakula Sub-Location, successfully recovered twenty-seven (27) goats in Lochakula Sub-Location, Masol Location, Pokot Central Sub-County, West Pokot County,” NPS reported.

“The recovered goats were transported to Kainuk ASTU Camp, where they await identification and handover to their rightful owners. A security operation to pursue and apprehend the suspects responsible for the theft is ongoing,” NPS added.
