Man Kush recalls resurrecting a dead child 20 years ago

Kenyan Pentecostal preacher Paul Kuria, known as Man Kush, has recalled an extraordinary incident he says happened more than 20 years ago when he encountered a mother carrying a child she believed was dead during a night vigil.

Speaking about the incident during a candid interview with Chaxy, Man Kush said he had been preaching about the biblical story of Lazarus, whom Jesus raised from the dead.

“I went to a night vigil and preached about Lazaraus and how Lazaraus was raised by Jesus from the tomb,” Man Kush recalled.

According to Man Kush, shortly after his sermon, a woman approached him with a child, asking him to pray for the child to be brought back to life.

“After two minutes, I had not left the pulpit; the church was packed. It was somewhere in the village. A mother came with a child and said, ‘Pastor, I have been called here, and I was in this night vigil, and I was informed the child is dead so that Jesus, who resurrected Lazarus, may He resurrect my child,'”he added.

He said the woman then presented the child to him, referring to the message he had preached about Jesus raising people from the dead.

“Here is my child; you have preached that Jesus resurrected people,” the woman told him, according to Man Kush.

The preacher said he held the child and commanded death to leave, while appealing to God not to allow the congregation to witness what he described as a failure.

“I held that child; I know what death is. Death is a spirit, and I commanded it, ‘In Jesus’ mighty name. ‘God, do not let people disgrace you with all these over 1000-plus people gathered here,'”Man Kush stated.

Restoring a dead child’s life

The Pentecostal preacher further said he then declared that the child’s life had been restored.

“I took this child’s life, and I have restored it.”

He claimed that the child subsequently sneezed, which he interpreted as a sign that the child had regained life. At the same time, he said a cow outside the church suddenly died despite not appearing to be sick.

“The kid sneezed, and outside the church, a cow died and was not sick. The spirit shifted from wherever it shifted, brought back life and the cow died,” he said.

Man Kush said he handed the child back to the mother before leaving the church through the back door.

“I handed over the child and left through the back door till today; it is over 20 years. I have never gone back to that area.”

However, Man Kush clarified that he did not consider himself responsible for restoring the child’s life.

“I was not the one who restored the child’s life,” he said.
