Meru Governor Isaac Mutuma has confidently predicted that Deputy President Kithure Kindiki will be the president of Kenya in 2032.

Speaking on Saturday, August 9, 2025, during an Economic Empowerment Program in Igembe South, Meru, Mutuma expressed optimism about Kindiki’s political future and urged locals to support their leaders to ensure regional progress.

Mutuma emphasised the importance of unity among the Meru, Tharaka, and Embu communities, stressing that their contributions must be recognised nationally.

Tunatoka hapa Meru, tuko na kila kazi na juhudi ya kufanya. Kama watu wa Meru, Tharaka, na Embu, tutoke kwenye ramani za Kenya. Tumetoa Rais, sasa tuone mwaka 2032,” he said, underlining the region’s role in shaping Kenya’s leadership.

Political legacy reason

Mutuma explained his confidence in Kindiki’s future presidency by citing Kenya’s political history, where leadership has rotated among communities, noting that no president has ever come from Mount Kenya East.

Niwapee kataa rifa kidogo. ” Mutuma said, pointing to this pattern as the foundation for his prediction.

Economic growth focus

Highlighting ongoing development plans, Governor Mutuma said the county is set to build the largest market in Kenya, a project that will boost the local economy and create jobs.

Mnataka pesa, mnataka muinuliwe. Simnajua soko yetu inajengwa hapa Maua. Kuna soko la milioni mia nane. Tulienda kwa Rais na tunajenga soko kubwa, ambalo halijawahi kujengwa hapa Kenya,” he said, emphasising the significance of the project for economic empowerment in the region.

Mutuma warmly welcomed Deputy President Kindiki as the future leader of Kenya, encouraging the community to back his presidency bid. “Nataka tukaribishe Rais wa 2032,” he concluded, calling on locals to unite behind Kindiki.

Governor Mutuma took office in March 2025, replacing the impeached Kawira Mwangaza. Though new in his role, he is already focusing on boosting economic projects and fostering political unity in Meru.
