Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku lauds Ruto for Cabinet post and pledges to deliver results

Mbeere North Member of Parliament, Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku, has officially accepted his nomination as the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes, following an announcement by President William Ruto.
Speaking during the inspection of the Kanyuambora Irrigation Project in Embu County on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, where he had accompanied Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Ruku described the appointment as a profound honour, noting that it was a clear testament to the confidence that the President had in his leadership.
He expressed deep gratitude to Ruto for recognising his efforts and entrusting him with a ministerial role, vowing to serve with the same determination and diligence that have defined his tenure as an MP.
“It is a tremendous privilege to have served as the MP for Mbeere North, a role I have undertaken with utmost diligence, ensuring the well-being and progress of the people. The President has now entrusted me with even greater responsibility, and for that, I extend my deepest gratitude to him. His recognition of my work is an immense sign of respect, and I do not take it lightly,” Ruku stated.
Ruku went further to recount how he learnt of the nomination, saying they had just concluded assessing the project and were at that particular time seeing off the Deputy President when he began receiving an influx of phone calls.

He shared that the calls were from friends, colleagues, and constituents, and they were congratulating him on the nomination.
However, he admitted that he struggled to believe the news, suspecting it might be misinformation, but upon checking official sources, he confirmed that the nomination was indeed legitimate, as a formal appointment letter had already been issued.
“We were in Kanyuambora, Indawa Ward, inspecting an irrigation project alongside Professor Kithure Kindiki. After concluding our assessment, I bid farewell to the Deputy President, only to receive numerous phone calls from friends, colleagues, and constituents congratulating me on the nomination. At first, I struggled to believe it, thinking it might be misinformation, but upon checking, I found it was indeed true—the appointment letter had already been issued,” he recounted.
Hardowrking MP
Reflecting on his journey as a leader, Ruku stated that serving as the MP for Mbeere North had been both a privilege and a responsibility that he had embraced with unwavering commitment, always striving to improve the lives of his people through tangible development initiatives.
He emphasised that his work had always been driven by a deep passion for service, and the nomination to a Cabinet position only reinforced his resolve to contribute even more towards the nation’s progress.
Expressing his loyalty to President Ruto and his broader vision for Kenya, Ruku pledged to undertake his new duties with utmost seriousness and dedication, assuring the Head of State that he would work relentlessly to deliver on the government’s promises to the people.
He affirmed that, should Parliament approve his appointment, he would devote himself fully to the role, ensuring that the Ministry of Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes plays a pivotal role in driving national growth and social transformation.
“If Parliament deems me worthy of this responsibility, I solemnly pledge that I will not disappoint the President, the government, or the people of Kenya. I will put in relentless effort, work with absolute dedication, and serve with unyielding commitment to ensure that our administration’s agenda is successfully implemented,” he declared.
Cabinet reshuffle
Ruku’s nomination was part of a raft of changes that President William Ruto effected in his Cabinet today, Wednesday, March 26, 2025, in a bid to fortify government efficiency and refine policy execution.
The reshuffle saw Aden Duale, who has been at the helm of the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry, reassigned to the Ministry of Health, where he takes over from Deborah Mlongo Barasa, who has in turn been moved to steer the Environment docket.
In a statement issued by Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, the reorganisation was framed as a strategic intervention aimed at ensuring that the Cabinet functions at full constitutional strength while bolstering the government’s ability to propel Kenya’s socio-economic transformation.
“The two nominees are expected to inject into the Cabinet not only the breadth of knowledge and expertise amassed over the course of their illustrious careers but, more crucially, the wisdom distilled from their inspiring and multifaceted life journeys,” read part of Koskei’s statement.
Beyond these reassignments, President Ruto also nominated Hanna Wendot Cheptumo to head the Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts, and Heritage, underscoring his administration’s resolve to fortify leadership across pivotal policy domains.
