‘This is the first time top leadership is coming from Mt Kenya East’ – Governor Cecily Mbarire on Kindiki’s appointment

Embu County Governor Cecily Mbarire has expressed her joy amid Deputy President designate Kithure Kindiki is set to take the oath of office today.

Speaking at the swearing-in venue at KICC on Friday, November 1, 2024, the Chairperson of the UDA party said the Mount Kenya East region has for the first time produced Kenya’s top leadership.

“We never saw this coming but here we are about to swear in the next and the new deputy of the Republic of Kenya who is professor Kithure Kindiki, It is a great joy for me coming from Embu County and coming from Mount Kenya East because this is the first time a top leadership second in command has come to that part of the world.

“We are happy that we can finally say that Mt. Kenya East has what it takes to produce a national leader,” Mbarire said.

In addition, the governor said that she does not doubt that Kindiki has all it takes to support President William Ruto in achieving a better agenda for the country’s development.

“But we also know that he is not only the deputy of Mt Kenya East he is going to be the deputy president for the Republic of Kenya what we want is unity for this country and I have no doubt that Kindiki has what it takes to support and assist the president in achieving the better agenda,” she said.

Kindiki’s swearing-in

On Thursday, October 31, 2024, the government gazette notice confirmed Kindiki’s swearing-in.

“It is notified for the general information of the public that the swearing-in ceremony of the Deputy President-designate shall take place on Friday, November 1, 2024, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), in Nairobi City County, from 10.00 o’clock in the forenoon,” the notice, signed by Mercy Wanjau, the Chairperson of the Assumption of the Office of Deputy President Committee, read.

Meanwhile, the members who will serve in the Assumption of the Office of the Deputy President Committee have been revealed.

“Whereas to facilitate the assumption to the Office of the Deputy President-designate, the swearing-in of the Deputy President-designate shall be undertaken by the Assumption of the Office of Deputy President Committee, comprising members of the Assumption of the Office of President Committee, with the necessary modifications as to utility,” the notice read.
