Lugari MP issues statement after Munyuki Secondary principal is found dead

Lugari Member of Parliament Nabii Nabwera has issued a detailed statement following the tragic discovery of Simon Isiaho Shange, the principal of Munyuki Secondary School, whose body was found in River Kipkaren after a week-long search.
In his statement shared on Facebook on Saturday, November 8, 2025, Nabii expressed deep shock and pain over the passing of his personal friend and associate, describing the circumstances surrounding Shange’s death as delicate and unclear.
He noted that the loss has affected not only the family but also the entire Lugari community and the wider education fraternity.
“It is with deep shock and pain that I have received the news of the passing of Mr. Simon Isiaho Shange, the Principal of Munyuki Secondary School, an associate and personal friend. His death, under circumstances that remain delicate and unclear, has shaken the family, entire Lugari community and the education fraternity,” Nabii wrote.
Nabii spoke highly of Shange’s dedication and principled approach to education, saying he had an unwavering commitment to service, mentorship, and academic excellence.
He revealed that the principal had a significant impact on shaping young minds and uplifting the standards of Munyuki Secondary School, which consistently performed well in academics and co-curricular activities.
“Mr. Shange was a dedicated and principled educator whose commitment to service, mentorship, and academic excellence profoundly impacted the lives of many students and colleagues. His devotion to shaping young minds and uplifting the education standards in our constituency will be remembered with great respect and admiration,” Nabii added.

The lawmaker also drew attention to Shange’s quiet but effective leadership style, noting his role as a strategic operator behind initiatives that promoted sports talent and overall school development.
Nabii described the principal as someone whose dedication and hard work left a lasting mark on both students and colleagues, contributing to the school’s reputation as one of the best-managed institutions in the area.
“He ran one of the best managed all round school outperforming senior schools in Academics and Co-Curricular activities. A shrewd quiet board operator, he has been the force behind me in pushing for making Munyuki a sports Talent,” the MP added.
Appeal to DCI
In his statement, Nabii appealed to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations [DCI] and all relevant investigative officers to expedite inquiries into the circumstances surrounding Shange’s passing.
He emphasised the importance of establishing truth and clarity for the sake of the grieving family and the wider community.
“This is a deeply concerning matter, and I urge the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) together with all relevant investigative officers to expedite investigations so that the circumstances surrounding his passing are brought to light Truth and clarity are essential not only for the family but for the entire community that mourns him,” the MP said.
The lawmaker further extended his condolences to the principal’s family, friends, and the Munyuki school fraternity, calling for strength, peace, and unity in the wake of the tragedy.
He urged the community to remain calm as authorities work to unravel the mystery surrounding the death.
“To the family, friends and Munyuki fraternity I pass my heartfelt condolences . Together, we share in this pain and pray for strength, peace, and justice as we come to terms with this tragic loss,” he wrote.

The disappearance of Shange occurred in the early hours of Monday, November 3, following a mysterious accident at the Muge black spot as he headed to collect KCSE examination papers.
His vehicle was found at the scene, but his body was later discovered kilometres away in River Kipkaren.
