KWS speaks after criticism over delays at Nairobi National Park

The Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) has issued response to complaints about the heavy congestion and chaotic scenes witnessed at the Nairobi National Park.
This follows a viral video showing several tourists stranded on long queues for hours waiting to gain entry into the park.
In the video shared by an international journalist, tourists waiting for assistance to enter the park stood in line for hours. They complained that the staff at the facility displayed favouritism by allowing certain individuals to access the park while denying others.
”This is the shambolic system that continues to exist at the Nairobi National Park gate months after the new queueing system was introduced. People are still forced to wait in long queues, the management system is chaotic, people who are favoured by KWS staff are allowed to jump the queue, there is no rhyme or reason for it,” the journalist complained.
Adding;
“This is such a shame, tourists have been waiting for over an hour. Government officials cannot get this sorted out and give people a better first impression of this country.”
KWS responds
Responding to the complaint via their official social media handle, KWS apologised for the long queues experienced, assuring customers that their time and experience is valuable.
“We understand that the excitement of visiting the park should never be overshadowed by long waits.
“We sincerely apologise for the long queues experienced this morning at the Nairobi National Park Main Gate. Your time and experience mean everything to us, and we’re working to make every visit as smooth as possible,” KWS said.
The wildlife service continued by issuing effective guidelines and alternative access to the park.

In particular, KWS shared that other than the Main Gate, the park features additional fully operational entry points at East Gate, located off Mombasa Road, and Mbagathi Gate, situated on Magadi Road opposite Multimedia University.
The wildlife agency also encouraged customers to prepay park entry via eCitizen for faster and express park access.
“To further ease congestion – remember, in addition to the Main Gate, Nairobi National Park has several fully operational entry points you can use at any time: East Gate (off Mombasa Road) and Mbagathi Gate (Magadi Road, directly opposite Multimedia University)
“By planning ahead and exploring all available options, you help us protect your time, your experience, and your park,” the wildlife service added.
