The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced a planned traffic disruption along Jogoo Road and Nyasa Road to allow for culvert installation works. The temporary closure will begin at 10:00 pm on Friday, July 18, 2025, and is expected to last until 11:00 pm on Monday, July 21, 2025.

In a public notice shared on Monday, July, 14, 2025, KURA informed motorists and the general public of the disruption, urging them to be cautious and to follow traffic instructions provided during the period.

“Kenya Urban Roads Authority seeks to inform the general public of a temporary traffic disruption along Jogoo Road and Nyasa Road from 10:00 PM on Friday, 18th July 2025 to 11:00 PM on Monday, 21st July 2025,” read the statement issued by the Corporate Communication Department.

The disruption is necessary to facilitate the installation of a culvert, which is part of ongoing efforts to enhance road infrastructure and improve urban drainage systems in Nairobi. KURA reassured the public that safety and minimal inconvenience remain top priorities during the project.

Traffic marshals to assist

To ease the impact of the closure, KURA has deployed traffic marshals and police officers to the affected section of the road. They will be tasked with directing traffic and ensuring smooth movement for motorists using alternative routes.

“Motorists are advised to exercise caution when approaching the affected section and to follow all road signs provided,” the statement added. “Police officers and traffic marshals will be on site to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.”

KURA further apologised for the inconvenience the temporary closure may cause, emphasising that the disruption is part of its wider goal to upgrade urban transport infrastructure.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused as we continue to Transform Urban Mobility.”

The Authority encouraged members of the public to stay updated through its official communication platforms and to report any challenges during the construction period.

As Nairobi continues to expand, such infrastructure upgrades are expected to improve mobility and enhance safety on city roads, aligning with KURA’s mission to deliver quality and sustainable urban transport solutions.
