Kenya Power names 3 counties set to experience blackout on Monday

Different areas in three counties will experience power interruptions on Monday September 2, 2024.

In a notice issued by Kenya Power on Sunday, September 1, 2024, the blackout will affect Nairobi, Kisumu and Homabay Counties.

The outage which is expected to affect activities that depend on electricity is due to the planned system maintenance.

Nairobi

In Nairobi, customers will be without power from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

According to Kenya Power, the outage will mainly affect parts of the Lower Kabete Road, Westlands, Ring Road, Peponi Road, part of General Mathenge Drive and adjacent customers.

Kisumu

In the notice, the electricity transmitting company informed its customers in Kisumu that power would be unavailable from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.

Areas set to be affected include Kibos Market, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) , Kibos School, KIRDI, Rice Mill, Elgons, Tidi, Victoria Fish Farm, Kongaya Market, Mbeme, Ooko Market, Rarieda Kaloo, Renja School, Kolewe Market, Still Mill and adjacent customers.

Homabay

In Homabay County, areas around Adiedo Secondary School, Obilo Primary School, Omboga, Yao Kamollo Primary School, Orire Primary School, Prof. Gaya TX, Kunya Primary School and adjacent customers will experience the planned power interruption.

According to the notice, power in above mentioned areas in Homabay will not be available from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Kenya Power has however apologised for the inconveniences which will likely be caused by the planned system maintenance on Monday, September 2, 2024.
