Kenya Power announces planned blackout in parts of 6 counties on June 10

Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has, on June 9, 2025, announced planned power outages in some parts across several counties in the North Rift, Western, and Coast regions.
The outages are scheduled for Tuesday, June 10, 2025, as part of routine maintenance aimed at improving the reliability and stability of the national grid.
The company shared detailed information on affected areas through its official X account, giving a detailed post on all areas that will be affected by the scheduled maintenance.
“In the North Rift region, power interruptions will impact parts of Uasin Gishu County, including Kesses, Kiptilong, and surrounding areas served by health facilities such as Kesses, Chorwey, Chepkoil, Leimlok, Kiptilong, and Budalangi dispensaries,” read part of the statement.

In Western Kenya, Kisumu County’s Sabembe Primary School and neighbouring locations, as well as parts of Kakamega County covering Ibiakalo, Lukhome, GTV, Power Spot, and Shiome, will experience outages from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The post also hints that Kiambu County, specifically affecting the Lusigetti area, will be affected from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. This includes locations such as Charismatic, Nairobi Ndogo, Njumbi Primary School, Karai Secondary School, Lusigetti Shopping Centre, Nachu Shopping Centre, Karari Ruiru, Karai Hospital, and adjacent customers.
The Coast region will see power cuts in Kwale County, particularly around Msambweni Referral Hospital, Msambweni Water, MBH, Milele, and adjacent customers. Additional outages will affect Embu County (Masinga and Ekakala) and parts of Kiambu County (Lusiigeti Sub-Centre and Nachu) from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
KPLC emphasises that the outages are necessary to conduct vital maintenance and infrastructure upgrades.
KPLC advises all affected customers, including businesses, healthcare facilities, and schools, to prepare for full-day power interruptions. The company apologises for any inconvenience and assures the public that the maintenance will ultimately improve service quality.
