Kenya Met issues nationwide weather advisory for Tuesday, December 2

The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a nationwide weather advisory for Tuesday, December 2, 2025, warning of mainly sunny conditions across most parts of the country, with strong southeasterly winds expected in northern counties.

The advisory, valid from 9:00 pm on Monday, December 1, to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, highlights regional weather patterns, temperature forecasts, and sunrise and sunset timings.

KMD forecasts partly cloudy conditions tonight, with sunny intervals prevailing throughout the day in key regions including the Highlands west and east of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and Nairobi County.

Northern counties such as Marsabit and Turkana are expected to experience strong southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots (12.5 m/s), posing potential risks for outdoor activities and livestock management.

Coastal and South-Eastern lowlands

Coastal counties, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwal,e are expected to see partly cloudy skies, with a chance of light showers in the morning, followed by sunny spells in the afternoon.

The south-eastern lowlands covering Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Taita Taveta, and Kajiado will have mainly sunny conditions, though brief morning showers are possible in some areas.

City-Specific forecasts

Urban centres across the country will enjoy mostly sunny intervals. Mombasa is expected to have sunny spells with occasional light showers, while Nairobi and Kisumu will experience clear skies with temperatures ranging from 16°C in the morning to 26°C in the afternoon.

Other cities such as Eldoret, Nakuru, Meru, and Malindi will also experience sunny intervals throughout the day.

Sunrise and sunset timings have been provided to guide daily planning. For instance, Mombasa’s sunrise is at 6:00 am and sunset at 6:21 pm, while Nairobi will see sunrise at 6:16 am and sunset at 6:27 pm.

Residents in northern counties are advised to take caution due to strong winds, especially when undertaking outdoor or high-risk activities.
