Kenya Met issues 5-day weather forecast with rains and cold nights expected

The Kenya Meteorological Department has released its latest five-day weather forecast, covering Saturday, September 27, to Wednesday, October 1, 2025, cautioning Kenyans to prepare for a mix of sunny and wet conditions across the country.
The report indicates that different regions across the country will experience varied weather conditions, ranging from heavy rains to chilly nights and sunny spells.

In Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, Murang’a, and Meru, residents should expect cloudy mornings followed by sunny intervals before afternoon showers.
The weather agency has cautioned that nighttime temperatures could drop significantly, in some places reaching as low as 5°C, while daytime highs may climb up to 29°C.
Western and Rift Valley regions
Kericho, Bungoma, Nakuru, Kakamega, Kisumu, and Bomet are set for a wet stretch of days, with morning showers giving way to afternoon thunderstorms. Daytime temperatures in these counties will rise to about 32°C before cooling to as low as 8°C at night.

The highlands west of the Rift Valley and North-western Kenya are also expected to receive rainfall during the forecast period.
Northern Kenya
Turkana and Samburu will experience morning showers followed by hot and sunny afternoons, with highs of 36°C and cooler nights dropping to between 7°C and 8°C. Meanwhile, Marsabit, Mandera, Garissa, and Wajir will remain hot and dry, with average daytime highs of 37°C and nighttime lows between 14°C and 16°C.
The South-Eastern lowlands, including Machakos, Kajiado, Makueni, Kitui, and Taita Taveta, will record mainly sunny days and partly cloudy nights, with temperatures ranging between 30°C and 32°C.
Coastal conditions
At the Coast covering Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Lamu, and parts of Tana River, the department projects generally sunny days and partly cloudy nights.
Light showers may be experienced in some areas, with temperatures expected to range between 30°C and 32°C during the day and 21°C to 23°C at night.
The department also issued a wind advisory, warning of strong winds of up to 46 km/h in parts of the coast, south-eastern lowlands, North-Eastern, and north-western Kenya.
