KeNHA to close Juja-Gatundu Road for 4 days

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary closure of the Juja-Gatundu Road that will affect motorists for four days.
In a statement posted on their X account on March 1, 2025, KeNHA stated that the road will be closed from Juja Stage Junction to Gatundu starting Friday, February 28, 2025, until Monday, March 3, 2025.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public that Juja-Gatundu Road will be temporarily closed from Juja Stage Junction to Gatundu,” the statement reads.
According to the authority, the closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of a cross culvert along the busy corridor that connects Juja to Gatundu South Constituency.

“This is to allow for the installation of the cross culvert from Friday, February 28, 2025, at 10.00 pm to Monday, March 3, 2025, at 8.00 pm,” KeNHA stated.
Alternative routes
To minimize disruption, the highway authority has designated alternative routes for motorists during the closure period.
“Juja-Gatundu traffic will be diverted through the diversion at Equity Afia Medical Centre (Juja) Road to join Juja-Gatundu Road,” the statement added.
Additionally, motorists can take Mucatha Road through the Jomo Kenyatta University Way roundabout to connect to the Thika Superhighway as another alternative.
KeNHA further urged road users to exercise caution when approaching the construction zones and to follow the traffic management plan in place.
“KeNHA advises motorists to exercise caution as they approach the work areas and follow the proposed traffic management plan as well as cooperate with the police and traffic marshalls on site,” the notice stated.

Other road closures
In a similar notice dated Friday, February 28, 2025, KeNHA Director General Kungu Ndung’u announced the temporary closure of a section of Uhuru Highway in Nairobi County, which will affect traffic flow between the University Way and Kenyatta Avenue roundabouts.
The road will be closed for one and a half hours on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.
This closure is necessary for a planned procession by the Institute of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) in commemoration of World Engineering Day.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public of a temporary closure of Uhuru Highway (A8) at the section between University Way and Kenyatta Avenue roundabouts on the Mombasa-bound carriageway on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 9.00 am to 10.30 am. This is to allow for a procession to commemorate World Engineering Day,” KeNHA stated.
To alleviate anticipated traffic congestion, the authority recommended that motorists travelling towards Mombasa exit Uhuru Highway at Boulevard Hotel and rejoin the highway at the Kenyatta Avenue roundabout.
Alternatively, drivers were advised to use the University Way roundabout and merge back onto the highway at the Kenyatta Avenue roundabout.
“Motorists heading towards the Mombasa direction are advised to exit the highway at either Boulevard Hotel onto Harry Thuku Road, Moi Avenue, and Kenyatta Avenue to rejoin the highway at the Kenyatta Avenue roundabout, or University Way roundabout onto Nyerere Road, Processional Way, and Kenyatta Avenue to rejoin the highway at the Kenyatta Avenue roundabout,” KENHA stated.
