Wiper Democratic Movement Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Saturday, August 17, 2024, paid tribute to his former Economics and History teacher as he marked his 80th birthday.

The event, held in Runyenjes, Embu County, was a gathering of family, friends, and prominent figures who came together to honor a man who has significantly impacted the lives of many.

The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party co-principal was accompanied to the event by Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni and former Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu.

“It was an honour and a privilege to pay a visit to my Economics and History teacher at Meru School, Dickson Ireri Kathambaria, in Runyenjes, Embu County, as his family and friends celebrated his 80th birthday this evening. I was accompanied by former Kiambu County Ferdinand Waititu Babayao and Jubilee Party SG Jeremiah Kioni,” Kalonzo stated in a statement shared via his official X account.

The former Vice President says teacher Kathambaria played a huge role in shaping his life and career.

Kalonzo reflected on the profound influence his former teacher had on him during his formative years at Meru School.

Teacher’s lasting impact

He wished his former teacher continued good health and happiness, acknowledging the lasting impact of his mentorship.

“The Scout motto, “Be Prepared,” and promise, “On my honour, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country,” frequently reminded me of Mr Kathambaria, who took me under his wing. He was a source of pride and inspiration, and I credit him with shaping me into the person I am today. Happy birthday, Mwalimu Kathambaria,” Kalonzo stated.

Kalonzo gifts his teacher

The photos from the event that were shared by Kalonzo, show teacher Kathambaria receiving a goat gift from Waititu, who seems to have been handing it over on behalf of the Wiper leader who is seen holding a microphone.
