Jubilee in talks with Gachagua’s DCP – Jamleck Kamau

Former Kigumo Constituency MP Jamleck Kamau, a diehard of the former ruling Jubilee Party, has said that Gachagua’s Democracy for Citizens’ Party (DCP) is in talks with the Jubilee Party for a possible deal.
Speaking to Kameme TV on Monday, August 11, 2025, Kamau, while advising the two parties to come together, said that Jubilee has the right to join whichever political camp it wishes.
He noted that such political realignments are a normal part of Kenyan politics, especially after a party leader finishes their term in power and retires.
According to him, another party often emerges to take its place.
Political shifts in history
“Do you remember during Mwai Kibaki’s era, we had PNU? When the Jubilee Party came, the PNU sponsored candidates, and we all saw what happened.
“From my observation, when a political party’s leader finishes serving in power and he or she retires, another party comes according to my historical view on political parties,” he said.

Kamau also observed that the DCP currently commands significant support in the Mt Kenya region.
He said his understanding was that talks between the Jubilee Party and the DCP had been ongoing for a while and that there were no hostilities between them.
Advice to Jubilee Party
“The party that has masses in Mt Kenya is the DCP. I know DCP and Jubilee parties have been talking for a while now, and there is no hostility. We will wait patiently and see the outcome,” Kamau stated.
He further advised that if Jubilee were to join forces with another party, it should be one that already enjoys strong grassroots support.
“If I were to advise Jubilee Party, I would tell them to join a party that has the masses, and that is DCP,” he added.
Kamau’s remarks come at a time when speculation is growing over possible political alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Jubilee Party, which has seen reduced influence since the end of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s term, has been weighing options for its political future.
