Jalang’o explains why he tagged along old men to Raila’s gravesite in Bondo
Lang’ata Member of Parliament (MP) Phelix Odiwour, popularly known as Jalang’o, has shared details of his first visit to Raila Odinga’s gravesite in Bondo in the company of Raila’s old friends.
In an interview with a local media house on Friday, November 8, 2025, Jalang’o revealed he had to take along with him old men from Lang’ata Constituency since that was where the late former prime minister served for at least twenty years.
“I took a delegation of old men who had worked with Baba (Raila Odinga) for the 20 years he was MP for Lang’ata,” Jalango said.
At the time, Jalang’o also revealed how difficult it was for the men to come to terms with the death of the late Raila while maintaining that the former PM shall be mourned for the next twenty-nine years.
“When they saw the grave, that was when they believed that Baba died…Baba will be mourned for the next 29 years,” Jalango said.
Jalang’o is among several leaders who have recently returned to Bondo with an entourage to pay their final respects to the fallen Orange Democratic Movement leader in a deeply emotional ceremony.

Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who is among the leaders who have visited the home, stated that Raila Odinga’s influence will continue to grow even after his death.
Speaking during his visit to Raila’s grave at Opoda Farm on Thursday, November 6, 2025, Kalonzo said the late opposition leader inspired a new generation of young Kenyans who will carry on his vision for justice and democracy.

Kalonzo’s visit
Kalonzo described Raila as a leader whose spirit will live on through the youth, particularly those who stood up to demand change.
“Raila Odinga will be more powerful in death than when he was alive because he inspired the young Kenyans; he inspired Gen Z,” Kalonzo said.
“And I remember that young girl in 2024 who said on the television, ‘Baba, baba, you have done enough; now rest, achia sisi hii kazi,’ and they did. They even went to the Central Business District.”
