Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) has revealed that it will enter into a post-election pact with Jubilee Party paving way for the possible appointment of former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto to Cabinet.

Rumors were ripe on Wednesday, May 13, that President Uhuru Kenyatta had dispatched a chopper to pick the firebrand politician from his home in Chepalungu in Bomet County.

But on Thursday, the CCM Chairman Mohammed Guleid revealed that the National Executive Committee (NEC), the top decision-making organ of the party, had resolved to form a post-election coalition with President Kenyatta- led party ahead of the 2022 General Elections.

“The leadership of the Chama Cha Mashinani led by Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto and former Kuresoi South MP Zakayo Cheruiyot and the National Executive Committee (NEC) have jointly resolved to form a post-election coalition agreement with Jubilee Party,” Guleid wrote on Twitter.

“The pact will be deposited with the registrar of political parties for formal signing soon,” he added.

According to him, both political parties are in talks on how to form this merger which is based on mutual interest and social-economic betterment for the people of Kenya.

“Mashinani Kenya will always be in defense of devolution and fight for equity,” he noted.

CCM has been voting with Jubilee as a bloc and has its members seconded to House committees by virtue of Jubilee Party strength in both the National Assembly and Senate.

CCM’s move comes barely a week after Baringo Senator Gideon Moi-led KANU signed a similar pact with the ruling party which led to the selection of West Pokot Senator Samuel Poghisio as the Senate Majority Leader.
