The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has summoned Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Wanjiru Chege over her utterances claiming that during the 2017 election, there was vote-rigging which saw President Uhuru Kenyatta declared as the winner.

Sabina is required to appear before the commission’s Electoral Code of Conduct Enforcement Committee on Tuesday, February 15 to facilitate investigations into her controversial utterances involving the 2017 elections.

“WHEREAS THE COMMISSION is seized of a report and material against yourself in regard to violation of clause 6(0) and 6(1) of the Electoral Code of Conduct, you are hereby required to attend the Offices of the Commission at Anniversary Towers 6th floor on the 15th day of February 2022 at 9 .00 o’clock,” part of the letter read.

Sabina who was speaking in a public rally in Isibuye Vihiga county on Thursday, February 11 stated that the chatter about ‘election rigging’ has some truth adding that the same could be repeated in the August 9 polls.

“Mnajua kule Central nimeskia wengine wakisema tuliwaibia. Kuna ka ukweli kidogo. Lakini kama tulijua kuiba… si hata hii tutafanya ninii… Kwani wanafikiria wao ndio wajanja? she posed.

Loosely translated as, “(There has been a rumour in Central that the elections were rigged and that could be right. If we did it then we can always do it again)”
