Governor Wanga appeals to Kenyans to keep Raila’s dream alive

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has urged Kenyans to keep alive the dream of the late Raila Amolo Odinga, describing him as a true patriot whose vision for a better Kenya will live on for generations.
Taking her thoughts on X on Monday, October 20, 2025, Wanga said Raila was not just a political leader but the nation’s conscience, whose sacrifices helped shape Kenya’s democracy.
“This Mashujaa Day, we honour a son who became our conscience. His dream for a better Kenya will never die. It is now our duty to keep it alive. God Bless Kenya,” Wanga wrote.

Wanga’s remarks came as the country marked Mashujaa Day, the first since Raila Odinga’s death. Her words, translating to the former prime minister’s life, represented sacrifice in the fight for democracy and equality.

Calls for unity and continued reform
Raila’s vision was built on the belief that Kenya’s transformation would come through strong institutions and bold reforms, not slogans or temporary promises.
She said that every Kenyan has a role to play in ensuring Raila’s dream does not fade, especially at a time when the nation is reflecting on its heroes and the values they stood for.
Throughout his career, Raila championed the rule of law, good governance, and social justice. He was known for his belief that justice must serve every Kenyan equally, regardless of social class or political side.
Wanga’s Mashujaa Day remarks aimed to shift the national mood from sorrow to resolve. By framing Raila’s life as a call to continued action, Wanga asked Kenyans to see the late leader’s work as a shared mission.
As the country reflects on its heroes, Wanga’s message is clear in that, honour is not complete without work. The task now, she said, is to keep faith with the values Raila championed so that his dream for Kenya endures.
Governor Wanga is urging Kenyans to rise above divisions and embrace the spirit of unity that Raila Odinga lived for, saying it is the only way to honour his enduring legacy.
