Governor Natembeya addresses claims of being chased away from MP’s home

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has come out to deny claims that he was chased away from the home of the late Malava Member of Parliament Malulu Injendi on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
Through a couple of social media posts and videos on Monday, March 3, 2025, the vocal governor dismissed the reports that he was compelled to flee as mere propaganda.
Natembeya went on to claim that Malava was part of his turf.
“No one can chase me out of my own turf. Stop this desperate propaganda,” Natembeya posted, showing a sizeable crowd of mourners listening to him.

Natembeya went on to share another video addressing the mourners beside a tent inside Injendi’s home, where he called on leaders from the region to rise to the occasion.
Natembeya told the mourners that the western region had been sidelined due to the current crop of leaders prioritising their vested interests over the community’s good.
“I have not here to politic but because Malulu Injendi was a national leader whom we respected as the people from Western region. Some people have organised themselves that if we want to address issues affecting our people, they want to gag us,” Natembeya said amid cheers from the crowd.
“In terms of population, we are the second when it comes to numbers, but when important conversations are taking place, we are not among those sitting on the table. There are others who have even planned to block us from accessing the negotiations table, but we shall not accept,” he added.

Clash with Ichung’wah
His statement comes month after a section of the political leaders ganged up against him during the burial of Mama Anne Nanyama, the mother to National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
Natembeya found himself on the receiving end after he accused the government of doing so little to help the people of Western Kenya and address some social ills among them, abductions.
Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah viciously attacked Natembeya, followed by Wetang’ula and later President Ruto.

“Gachagua was the orchestrator of abductions so that he could blame President Ruto. Shame on you Governor Natembeya. You cannot complain about abductions when you were the key abductor of Kenyans under the last regime,” Ichung’wah stated.
Despite the attack, Natembeya kept his head high and vowed to continue speaking the ills affecting the citizenry.
Showdown is expected Tuesday, March 4, 2025, when the late Injendi will be laid to rest.
