Gachagua’s DCP releases party outfits days after launch

Days after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua unveiled his new party, the Democratic Citizens Party (DCP), the party on Tuesday, May 21, 2025, released a wide range of official attire and merchandise.
With just a few days left to its official launch on June 4, 2025, DCP has introduced branded clothing aimed at popularising the party across the country.
The newly released attire includes caps in various colours, including red, an unexpected deviation from the party’s official colours of neon green and white, as seen during the party’s launch.
Other items include neon green reflectors, popularly worn by boda boda riders, red and green T-shirts, and white jumpers. Polo T-shirts also feature red stripes on the collar and sleeves.

All merchandise carries the DCP logo and the party’s slogan “Skiza Wakenya”, which is fast becoming synonymous with the party’s identity.
This move is part of a broader strategy to give the party a national outlook and embed and sink into people across Kenya.
Alongside the merchandise rollout, the party has urged Kenyans to register as members using a USSD code provided by the party.
This mass registration drive is seen as an effort to build a strong grassroots network ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Besides launching the merchandise, Gachagua, just after launching his party on Thursday, May 15, 2025, released the party’s official social media handles, signalling a plan to capture the digital audience, which comprises a vast majority.
As of Wednesday, May 21, 2025, DCP’s Facebook page had gained over 36,000 followers, while its X (formerly Twitter) account stood at 15,800 followers just days after going public.
On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, DCP Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala claimed that more than 2 million UDA supporters had defected from UDA to join DCP
DCP Launch
This comes just days after its launch in Lavington, a location that will now serve as the party’s headquarters.
During the event, the former deputy president went ahead to unveil the party’s officials as he assigned key allies top party positions, albeit on an interim basis.
Leaders announced included Cleophas Malala (Deputy Party Leader) and Mithika Linturi (National Organising Secretary), among others.
This development comes at a time when Gachagua has joined hands with like-minded politicians with the aim of unseating President Ruto in 2027 and making him a one-term president.
