Gachagua lauds DCP leaders for keeping fire burning in his absence

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has registered his admiration for the engagement work done by the opposition leaders in Kenya in his absence.
In a statement on Friday, July 25, 2025, Gachagua said he was encouraged by the efforts of the leaders in traversing the country and communicating the DCP agenda.
“I want to sincerely thank our dedicated team members for keeping the fire burning through public engagement today in Kwa-Maiko, Githunguri Constituency in Kiambu County. Your unwavering commitment is truly inspiring,” Gachagua said.
Shift in politics
He reiterated that the party’s agenda was to bring an end to the extrajudicial killings, corruption, and retrogressive politics in the country.
“Our priority agenda is clear: to put an end to anarchic leadership. Before anything else, we must address and eliminate corruption, extrajudicial killings, and retrogressive policies that hinder our progress,” Gachagua stated.

“Our mission to provide an alternative leadership and to liberate Kenyans from the shackles of pathological lying remains firmly on course. Together, we can build a brighter, more truthful, and united Kenya.”
2-month USA tour
Gachagua began a two-month tour of the United States on July 9, 2025. His itinerary includes stops in Dallas, California, Seattle, Boston, and Baltimore, where he is engaging with Kenyan diaspora communities and American business leaders.
While away, Gachagua has been impressed by the work done by his foot soldiers holding fort for him as he sways the diaspora voters and businessmen into buying into his vision for Kenya ahead of the 2027 polls.

Gachagua is set to officially launch his DCP party upon return, and also work on the modalities of settling on a single presidential candidate to field during the 2027 general elections.
The former deputy president is faced with the daunting task of keeping the United Opposition intact even after figuring out a working formula and choosing a presidential candidate to vie against President William Ruto.
Gachagua maintains he has managed to wrestle Mount Kenya region from Ruto’s control, and plans to use the vote-rich bastion to bargain his way to power in 2027.
