Dennis Itumbi, the Head of Presidential Special Projects and the Creative Economy, has revealed that he routinely screenshots online criticism and shares it with President William Ruto.

Speaking during an interview with YouTuber Shiku Gitau on Friday, October 24, 2025, Itumbi said that there are instances when he believes the president may not have seen certain negative comments or critical reviews circulating on social media.

In such cases, he shared that he takes screenshots and forwards them directly to the president, ensuring that dissenting views are brought to his attention.

“Sometimes, even when I think he has not seen the negative reviews, I screenshot them and send them to him so that he can see that there are people with a different view,” Itumbi said.

Itumbi explained that his role involves a dual responsibility.

While he is formally an employee under the president, he revealed that he also considers their relationship personal, which allows him to approach the president outside official hours and conversationally present public feedback.

“Because I am an employee under him, he is my boss. I also consider him a friend, and after working hours, I approach him as a friend and show him that people do not always agree,” Itumbi said.

He said that when he shares such comments, the president sometimes clarifies misunderstandings expressed in the critiques, while in other cases, he acknowledges the accuracy of certain observations.

He emphasised that criticism, when expressed respectfully, can play a constructive role.

“Sometimes he remarks and says, maybe this one did not understand, so help him understand. Other times, he says the comment is correct and accepts it,” Itumbi added.

He noted that he also receives feedback personally, which he believes helps him grow and refine his approach.

According to Itumbi, criticism is not merely a challenge to authority but a form of insight that fuels leadership development, providing an opportunity to understand public sentiment and adjust strategies accordingly.

“Other times he says the comment is correct and accepts it. Negativity expressed with some form of respect is good. I also receive criticism, and it helps me grow. Critics are our fuel, and without critics, you are not a leader,” the digital strategist added.
