Saboti Member of Parliament (MP)  Caleb Amisi has opened up about his unwavering loyalty to the late Orange Democratic Movement ( ODM )party leader Raila Odinga, saying his admiration stems from Raila’s long-standing commitment to democracy, governance, and national unity.

Speaking on Obinna TV Extra on Monday, October 27, 2025, Amisi stated that those who question his loyalty to Raila often misunderstand the depth of the former Prime Minister’s sacrifices for Kenya.

“People tell me, ‘you are too loyal to Raila, more than the Luos themselves’,” Amisi said. “But I look at Raila’s history, you can access leadership, yes, but this is someone who has fought for governance and justice in ways few have.”

He recalled how Raila Odinga endured imprisonment and political persecution in his fight for multiparty democracy, standing up against dictatorship and pushing for reforms that reshaped the country’s political landscape.

“He fought Ford Kenya out of Wamalwa, was imprisoned for nine years fighting for governance. Whatever political issues prevailed at that time, he was fighting for the good of the country even in prison,” Amisi noted.

The youthful MP praised Raila for maintaining his reformist stance even after his release, crediting him for championing multiparty democracy and the 2010 Constitution.

“When he came out, he still continued fighting for multipartism,  of course, with other people,  and you can see the chaos that came with it. We had the new constitution, and even before that, the guy vies for president, the country goes into chaos, Kibaki is sworn in at night, and Raila says, ‘no, it’s for the good of the country, let’s just accept and move on,’” Amisi recalled.

He lauded Raila’s decision to embrace dialogue during the 2007–2008 post-election crisis, emphasizing that the ODM leader always prioritized peace and stability over personal gain.

“There was chaos and mass action until Kibaki went; everybody was on Raila’s side, but he said no and agreed to form a coalition government with Kibaki. That is someone who has always put the country first,” he said.

Amisi said that witnessing Raila’s consistency, courage, and patriotism over the years convinced him to fully commit to Odinga’s political ideology.

“There is something he has fought for. There is something to his name. That’s why I committed myself and said, ‘this is a leader.’ The principles and the ideas he stands for made me attracted to him,” he concluded.
