The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that UDA’s Mpusia Amos has won the Purko Ward by-election for the Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat in Kajiado County.

According to a live report by a local TV station on Thursday, November 27, 2025, IEBC reported that Mpusia Amos secured 2,085 votes, while Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) candidate Simon Sanare Saidimu came second with 1,522 votes, and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Daniel Naikuni received 298 votes.

Following the win, UDA’s Mpusia spoke to the press excitedly, saying that he was grateful to God for the victory. He expressed appreciation to his competitors, noting that they had competed fairly and tried their best throughout the campaign.

“I am the winner of the Purko Ward by-election, and I want to thank God for enabling me. I also want to thank my competitors, because we have competed in a good way, and I congratulate them for trying their best,” Mpusia said.

Mpusia added that the by-election was conducted peacefully and thanked the UDA team for their support, highlighting that the win reflects the confidence that the Purko Ward residents have in UDA’s leadership.

He also emphasised that his victory signals the continuation of UDA’s two-term government agenda in the ward and reassured residents that he will serve them diligently and lead effectively.

“We had a peaceful campaign, and I want to thank our UDA team. My win means that UDA is ruling here, which means we are in the two-term government,” he added.

Mpusia further urged the other candidates who competed in the by-election to join him in his leadership journey for the good of the community, stressing the importance of unity and collaboration moving forward.

“I also want to thank other leaders who are with us here. This decision has been made by Purko Ward residents, and I want to thank them and tell them that I will work for them well and lead them effectively. I want to urge also those we have been competing with to walk with me in this leadership journey,” he said.

The Purko MCA seat fell vacant following the death of Simon Saitoti in March 2025 after a short illness.
