Amisi rejects Raila’s call for intergenerational dialogue

Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has yet again rejected the former prime minister Raila Odinga’s call for intergenerational dialogue.
Speaking to a local YouTuber on Friday, August 1, 2025, Amisi said that the dialogue made no sense at the moment, stressing that they had held it for many years but nothing meaningful had followed.
He pointed out that even if people spoke, the aftermath was the real issue, and he questioned what would actually happen after the talk.
“Haina maana kwa sasa, tumekuwa na dialogue miaka mingi, watu kuongea wataongea shida ni aftermath wakisha ongea nini itafanyika? ni nini hawajui kuhusu intergenerational, kwani hawajui shida ya vijana ni kazi?,”Amisi said.
The vocal MP added that the country has a department of economic planning responsible for national planning and asked rhetorically how one could plan a country without statistics.
He noted that the department already had statistics and knew how many young people were in the country, insisting that the government should plan using the data available and did not need another dialogue.
“Tuko na department ya economic planning it plans the country. How do you plan the country without statistics? They have statistics; they know how many youths are there. They need to plan with the data they have, they do not need another dialogue,” he said.

“Watakuwa wakiongea mambo wanajua tena hiyo niku waste pesa ya serikali, hizi vitu hazipeleki taifa mbele. Government iko na resourses ya kutosha ya kujua shida za wakenya.”
In addition, he said that there is no need for hundreds of people to meet and discuss because the Parliament is in place, as well as the Economic Planning Council at State House, and therefore he insisted that no further dialogue was necessary.
“We do not need a thousand people to meet and discuss, we, already have parliament, tuko na economic council, state house,” he stated.
Amisi to Raila
Amisi further urged Raila not to involve himself because he might get hurt for nothing. dismissing intergenerational dialogue as a political distraction.
“Mambo ya dialogue haina maana, ni nini Ruto hajui kuhusu vijana? Hiyo ni mchezo ya town na Baba asijiweke kwa hizi mchezo wa town ataumizwa bure!,”he said.
Raila’s call for dialogue
This comes after the former prime minister, on Monday, July 7, renewed his call for a national dialogue and the outcomes to be subjected to a referendum.
Raila proposed the dialogue, which aims at bridging the gap between the government and the Kenyan youth.
Speaking during a press briefing, Odinga proposed the immediate establishment of an intergenerational national conclave to bring together diverse voices from across the country.
“I want the outcomes of the national dialogue to be subjected to a referendum,” Odinga said.
”I propose an inclusive intergenerational national conclave to hear our people across all divides and come up with the irreducible reforms and changes necessary to take the country forward. I propose that the country urgently return to the agenda of comprehensive police reforms, focusing on enhancing accountability and transparency and improving police-to-people relations.”
