Amisi blasts Murkomen over defilement, murder cases in Saboti

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has lashed out at Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen over rising insecurity in his constituency.
Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Amisi expressed concern over a surge in cases of defilement and murder in Nakara Village, Saboti Constituency. He said the incidents have caused fear and anger among residents as the government appears to be doing little to address the situation.

Amisi told the House that Nakara Village has witnessed a worrying increase in violent crimes over the past year, including cases of rape, defilement and murder. He noted that despite repeated reports to the police, no visible action has been taken to bring the perpetrators to justice.
He cited the killing of two children in August as the most recent and painful example of the deteriorating security situation. On August 26, seven-year-old Prezzy Nafula was defiled and murdered on her way home after being sent away from school. Earlier, on August 2, four-year-old Zibbora Goraria suffered the same fate at the hands of unknown attackers.
Amisi said the lack of arrests in both cases had raised serious concerns among residents about the safety of children and the effectiveness of the security agencies in the area.
“Over the past year, Naikara village in Saboti Constituency has witnessed a distressing surge in insecurity, with cases of defilement, rape and murders being reported, yet no visible action has been taken to curb them. On 26th August 2025, Prezzy Nafula, aged seven, was defiled and murdered on her way home after being sent home from school,” Amisi stated.
Adding;
“Earlier in the same month, on 2nd August 2025, Zibbora Goraria, aged four, was similarly defiled and murdered by unknown persons. Despite these incidents being reported to the police, no arrests have been made to date, raising concern among residents regarding the safety of children and the adequacy of response by security agencies.”

Internal security
The MP called on the Departmental Committee on Administration and Internal Security to provide a comprehensive report on the status of investigations into the killings and explain the apparent failure by police to respond adequately.
“It is against this background that I request a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Administration and Internal Security on the following: A report on the status of investigations into the defilement and subsequent murders of Prezzy Nafula and Zibbora Gorasia in Naikara village, Chebukaka area in Saboti Constituency,” Amisi declared.
“Murkomen must come down to Saboti to sort the issue of insecurity. It is a demand by the people of Saboti. Kenya needs a renaissance!” he wrote on his X.
He also demanded details on what measures are being taken to address the rising cases of violent crime in the area, the reasons behind the poor performance of security agencies, and the level of resource allocation to Saboti Police Station in terms of personnel and equipment.
Amisi urged the government to provide both immediate and long-term strategies to restore security in Saboti, saying residents deserve to live without fear.
