Celebrated musician Otile Brown has expressed his eagerness to guide and support a talented individual in honing their craft.
Through his Instagram stories on July 4, 2024, Otile said that he was searching for a songstress to mentor, adding that she could be from any part of Kenya.
Further, Otile emphasised that the artiste should have the significance of singing in impeccable Swahili.
He stressed the importance of mastering the language’s nuances and accent, citing that it was particularly important for the realm of music.
“Looking for an upcoming female artist to mentor… You can be from any part of Kenya as long you know how to sing good Swahili. Rafudhi ni muhimu kwenye hizi nyimbo zetu za kiswahili,” Otile remarked.
Otile’s comments come a few hours after he had released a new Swahili single dubbed ‘Furukuta’.
Otile’s helping hand
Otile’s initiative to mentor another artist does not come as a surprise bearing in mind that his story is that from rag to riches.
Throughout his career, Otile has presented himself to his fans and given back to the community in the best way he knows how from entertainment scenes to charitable work.
For instance, in March 2024, Otile acknowledged the impact of famous Tiktoker Brian Chira’s passing on his music.
As a show of gratitude, Otile promised to perform his song “One Call,” featuring Ruby from Tanzania, at Chira’s burial after he learnt it was his favourite. The singer acknowledged that his death had made Kenyans to flock his YouTube channel to stream the song.
“What Chira is doing to #OneCall is just crazy. His light is bright and the love is felt. Sending you love and prayers…rest well king,” Otile remarked.
Unlike many musicians, Otile started singing and writing songs at the tender age of 13. His big musical break came sometime in 2015 when he released his single ‘Imaginary Love’ featuring rapper Khaligraph Jones when he was signed under Dr Eddie’s Dreamland Music Label.
His relationship with his record label didn’t last long and both parties parted ways in 2017, and this saw him become an independent artist.
