Singer Jovial has publicly apologised to fellow musician Otile Brown after their ongoing social media exchange took a deeply personal turn, saying she wants to put the matter to rest for the sake of her peace and her child.

The apology came in a statement shared on her Instagram page on Monday, July 13, 2026, shortly after Otile Brown made comments claiming that a DNA test had ruled him out as the father of her child.

Jovial said the conversation had gone too far after her child was brought into the public dispute, adding that she no longer wished to continue the exchange.

Apologises to end the public dispute

In her statement, the singer admitted that opening up about her past experiences had become her biggest regret and expressed a desire to move on from the situation. “The fact that you brought a child into this, that’s it. I don’t have much to say, you won,” she said.

She went on to apologise to Otile Brown, saying her decision was motivated by the need to protect her own peace and keep her child out of the public disagreement. “I want to take this opportunity to apologise to Otile Brown for the sake of my peace and for the sake of my child getting involved in all this. He’s innocent and doesn’t deserve this. This is my mess,” she stated.

Jovial also reflected on the decision to publicly speak about her experiences, saying she would handle such situations differently in the future, “My biggest mistake was opening up after what I went through and I shouldn’t have. Next time I’ll do better,” she wrote.

Otile’s DNA remarks

Her apology came hours after Otile Brown shared a statement in which he suggested that the results of a DNA test had settled speculation over the paternity of Jovial’s child.

“Jovial, I know it pained you that the DNA test results didn’t come out that the child was mine. I know you wished the child was mine, but that’s not how God planned it,” Otile said.

The exchange follows days of public disagreement between the two artists over royalties, past collaborations and their working relationship. Both musicians have been sharing lengthy statements on social media, with Jovial questioning payments she says she was entitled to, while Otile maintained that he had supported her professionally and personally over the years.

Their latest posts, however, shifted the discussion away from music after the issue of a DNA test and a child was brought into the conversation.
