Tuesday blackout to affect 8 counties

Kenya Power has announced a planned power blackout scheduled for Tuesday, April 30, 2024, according to a notice posted on its website.

The interruption is essential to facilitate maintenance and upgrades to the power lines within the network, as stated by the utility firm.

“Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as here under: (It is necessary to interrupt supply periodically to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power lines during construction, etc.),” Kenya Power said.

The utility firm noted that the Tuesday power interruption will affect Nairobi, Kiambu, Makueni, Busia, Kisii, Homa Bay, Nyeri and Laikipia Counties.

Nairobi

Area: Zimmerman. Time: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Places affected: Part of Zimmerman Est, Wankan, Kwa Masai, Zebra House, Family Access, St. Anthony Sch & adjacent customers.

Area: Part of Mathare, Ruaraka. Time: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Affected places: Mathare 3 & 4, KSMS, De La Rue Complex, GSU, NYS Engineering, ABSA Bank Ruaraka & adjacent customers.

Area: Siaya Road. Time: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Places affected: Gusii Ave, Siaya Rd, Siaya Close, Gatundu Rd, Tinderet Ave, Gichugu Rd, Mandera Rd, Gem Lane, Kenya High Sch, Kileleshwa Police Stn, Dik- Dik Gardens, Olekejuado Rd, Kandara Rd, Mandera Lane, National Housing Co-operation, Moon Valley Apts, Gatundu Close & adjacent customers.

Area: Donholm, Savannah. Time: 9:00 to 5:00 pm.
