Sabina Chege, a member of the Azimio la Umoja coalition council, has said she will be the one to represent the interests of the people of Mt.Kenya should the coalition take the next government.

Chege, who is the only leader from the region appointed to the council, said she will ensure the interests of the residents have been addressed as she will be at the negotiating table.

“I would urge the residents to have confidence in me and I will ensure all the promises made to them have been delivered,” she remarked.

Speaking in Kenol Murang’a during the launch of the Azimio campaign in the county, she said the region cannot afford to be in the opposition and the leaders supporting Azimio are out to ensure they deliver a landslide win for Raila Odinga.

“I am confident we are going to carry the day on August 9 and Odinga will be our next president,” she said.

“We have a target of 15 million votes and I believe this achievable because Odinga is enjoying massive support from all corners of the country,” Chege added.

Further, she said that the intended zoning of the parties under the coalition shall be conducted in a transparent manner and no one will be coerced to drop their bid.

“We are doing a thorough survey to establish which party and candidate are strong in specific areas and this will inform our decision,” she said.

“I would urge the candidates if they are called to the negotiating table, they should turn up so that we can agree on the way forward,” she remarked.

Sabina Chege cautions against splitting of votes

She said having several candidates under Azimio contesting for one seat will give their opponents an easy win due to the splitting of votes.

“It’s better we approach the elections as one strong team instead of having several candidates and we end up losing,” she added.

Sabina Chege dispatched eight vehicles branded with Azimio colours saying most of the candidates have branded their vehicles with jubilee colours pointing out this should be a joint campaign.

“There has been a perception that leaders from the county are not ready to campaign for Odinga but we are going to get to every corner to sell his agenda to the people,” Chege said.
