Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party leader Raila Odinga is celebrating his 79th birthday on Sunday, January 7, 2024.

The politician, who is also the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, was born on January 7, 1945.

He was born to Mary Juma Odinga and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga at the Anglican Church Missionary Society Hospital in Maseno, Kisumu District.

In his journey as a politician, he has served in many positions from an MP, Minister and Prime Minister and has contested for the presidency five times.

ODm was among the first to send their tribute, terming his life as a journey of excellence and success.

“We join the Nation and the World in praying for our Party Leader, the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga’s good health and luck as he celebrates his birthday today. As a party, we are proud to be a part of this amazing journey of excellence and success. Happy Birthday Sir,” ODM stated.

ODM Secretary General and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna prayed for long life for Raila, even as he termed it a privilege to know him.

“Hapy Birthday Baba ⁦Raila Odinga. Sisi ni wale tulibarikiwa tukakujua na ukatujua. Ahsante kwa yote unazidi kulifanyia taifa letu. Mungu akulinde na akupe maisha marefu. (I am among those blessed to know and be known by you. Thank you for everything you are doing for the nation. May God protect you and give you long life),” Sifuna said.

Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang commended Raila for choosing dialogue to solve political disputes, instead of opting for violence.

“Happy Birthday Raila Odinga. Your love for country and people is unmatched in Kenyan history. Even when wounded you always choose dialogue where others would have chosen insurrection. We pray God grants you health, strength and wisdom to guide and give us hope of a better Kenya,” Kajwang stated.
