List of areas scheduled for power blackout on Monday

A power outage scheduled for Monday, May 20, 2024, is set to impact two Counties across Kenya, according to the latest announcement from Kenya Power.

The blackout, which is planned for maintenance purposes, will affect several areas at different times of the day.

“Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as here under: (It is necessary to interrupt supply periodically to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power lines during construction, etc.),” Kenya Power said in a notice on its website.

The outage, while temporary, is expected to impact various sectors and activities in the affected Counties.

Kenya Power said that the Monday power interruption will affect Kiambu and Nyeri Counties.

Kiambu

Area: Kagwa, Pascha, Githunguri. Time: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Places affected: Kamburu, Mitimbei, Kagaa, Kagwe Shops, Gatamaiyu, Gachoire, Nyanduma, Kamuchege, Pascha Dairies, Nyamuthanga, Gitwe Girls, Kamba Factory, Matukuta, Mungu & adjacent customers.

Nyeri

Area: Giakaibei Market. Time: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Places affected: Giakaibei Mkt, Giakaibei Sec Sch, Ndumanu Village, Kanjuri High Sch, Kanjuri Mkt, Giagathege TBC, Kianganga Village, Kiunjugi TBC, Kariambi TBC, Gitima-Ini Mkt, Gitima-Ini Booster, Kiangengi Mkt, Gatei TBC, Ragati T/Fact, Kagochi Mkt, KianjiruIni TBC, Ragati Forest Station & adjacent customers.
