The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has announced the initiation of the party’s Disaster Response Committee in solidarity with flood victims.

In its statement, the party said the first consignment of donations will be flagged off at Chungwa House on Tuesday, May 14, at 10 am.

The party has called on well-wishers who wish to join the efforts to contribute items such as packed maize flour, rice, beans, and cooking oil for food items and blankets, mattresses, and housing prefabs for non-food items.

“On Tuesday, May 14th at 10 am, we will be flagging off this consignment at Chungwa House. We extend a warm invitation to all esteemed members of ODM to attend this brief event.

“We have established a warehouse at Chungwa House for this purpose. We invite those who can contribute any of the items above to do so at Chungwa House. Our team will be available to receive you, your friends, and your gifts at any time,” a statement from the party reads in parts.

At the same time, the Raila Odinga-led party confirmed the launch of the Mathare Flood Disaster Fund Appeal for flood victims in Mathare.

The project aimed at raising funds to settle victims of floods, cater for the funeral expenses of those killed in the floods and medical expenses for those injured was launched by the area Member of Parliament (MP) Anthony Oluoch at the Mathare DCC office.
