Noonkopir Girls in Kajiado closed over rising cases of lesbianism

Noonkopir Girls’ secondary school has temporarily closed and all learners sent home over allegations of uncontrolled lesbianism.

All the 987 students were sent home after a section of the learners become unruly over the menace.

Learners were on Thursday evening issued leave outs directing parents to accompany their daughter to school on Monday, April 17 2023, to sign if they want their child to remain in the school or be given a transfer letter.

According to some parents, the move came as a shocker while some were privy to the alleged rampant cases of lesbians.

“My daughter is in form one. I am so shocked by the information reaching me. My daughter came home unannounced after the mother received a call. The lesbianism issue is a serious thing that we would want serious action taken and the matter thoroughly investigated. As parents, we are in a panic mood and we all need to establish the truth, ” David Ndilai said.

Some parents claim that learners had raised concerns over the lesbian issue with the school principal Florence Kimeu but no action was taken against ring leaders.

It is reported that when the menace got out of hand, several students were sent home at the beginning of the week.

The school board of management and the principal were holed up in a crisis meeting when K24 Digital visited the institution on Friday afternoon. Teachers dressed casually had gathered together talking in murmurs.

The board’s chairman Thuo Kiarie told K24 Digital that only the county director of education could address the matter in an official capacity.

County education director Martin Cheruyiot is yet to respond on the matter.

The unruly behaviour in the school is also reported to have been escalated by those who wanted to go home for the Easter holiday.
