Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura celebrated his 42nd birthday on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

Mwaura was born on May 29, 1982, in Githunguri, Kiambu county and is often referred to by his alias MuthunguWaRuiru. He is the current chairperson of the Albinism Society of Kenya.

The firebrand spokesman is married to Nelius Mukami Rwamba and together are blessed with a son named Njiru Mwaigua Mwaura.

Mwaura’s education and career

Mwaura schooled in Thika before joining Kenyatta University where he nurtured his political career through the student leaders organization.

Mwaura has two master’s degrees; a master in Arts in Development Studies he attained from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and another Master in Arts in Social and Public Policy Studies from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom.

However, his eloquence and ability to pick on even veteran politicians would later place him in the national limelight from where he was nominated to parliament by Raila Odinga’s party ODM.

In 2006, Mwaura was featured in the movie My Genes together with Lupita Nyong’o. His role as an aspiring member of parliament captivated the now Kisumu governor Anyang Nyongo who took him under his wings as a political godfather and mentor.

Mwaura would rise to be Raila Odinga’s senior advisor on special interest groups before decamping to Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee coalition in 2015.

He would later rise through the ranks and even managed to organise the first-ever albino pageant in the world in 2018. He also advocated for an increase in government allocations to the people living with disabilities.

Mwaura’s current job

Mwaura is the official government spokesman of the Kenya Kwanza administration with his office based at State House.

This is after President William Ruto domiciled the office of the spokesperson at State House, away from the Ministry of Information, Communication and Digital Economy, where the office previously sat.

Mwaura was appointed spokesperson alongside his deputy Mwanaisha Chidzuga who is mandated to handle all matters in mainstream media.
