Ida Odinga, the wife of Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga, on Thursday, October 27,  condoled with the family of her slain bodyguard Barack Onyango Oduor ahead of his interment on Friday.

Ida visited Oduor’s family last evening in Bondo, Siaya, and commiserated with them as they plan to lay their kin to rest today.

Oduor was fatally shot on the night of October 13, 2022, in his rented house at Victoria Gardens Estate, Riat area within Kisumu County.

One suspect has since been arrested over Oduor’s murder.

Collins Oulo Okundi, a manager at a club in Kisumu, is alleged to have confronted the slain police officer who was in the company of a lady and another male friend.

He shot Oduor twice in the head, killing him on the spot during the 4:00 am incident. The deceased’s friend Donar Kajwang was also shot in the leg.

The motive of the killing remains unknown but there are speculations that the dispute was about the woman.

“In the process, the suspect disarmed the police officer and fatally shot him twice in the head and leg. His friend Donar Kajwang was also shot in the leg,” a police statement stated.
