Gachagua cracks up MPs, reveals wife’s demands after Ruto-Rachel US hand holding gesture
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has left Members of Parliament and other lawmakers attending the National Prayer Breakfast in stitches after revealing Pastor Dorcas Rigathi’s demands.
The Second in Command noted that President William Ruto’s gesture of holding First Lady Rachel Ruto’s hand during his US State Visit influenced Pastor Dorcas who asked Gachagua to replicate the same.
According to Gachagua, Pastor Dorcas went overboard, asking him to hold her hand even inside the house.

Gachagua added that other husbands across the country faced the same challenge following Ruto-Rachel’s hand-holding gesture in the US.
“All Kenyans were monitoring what you were doing in the US. There is something that were you doing there that created problems for many husbands across the country.
“When you were walking there holding the hand of the First Lady it put us back here under a lot of immense pressure. Our spouses led by mine Pastor Dorcas were demanding that we emulate the President and hold their hand wherever we go,” Gachagua stated.
“Mine went beyond demanding that I walk her to the car. She was even saying that in the house I hold her hand.”
“Your excellency allow me to tell you as a truthful man that there was a little challenge rising from your trip to the States that created problems for husbands across the country.”

The same concern was raised by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi who Gachagua acknowledged has been put under immense pressure to emulate the Head of State.
“But I was not alone, Chief Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi asked me if the hand-holding gesture has caused problems in my house. I told Musalia that in house, things are even worse,” Gachagua stated amidst laughter from the attendees.
Only American thing
Nonetheless, Gachagua came to a conclusion that Ruto hand-holding gesture was only an American things after Ruto left Rachel Ruto behind immediately after embarking from his car at Serena Hotel while arriving for the National Prayer Breakfast.

“This morning when I welcomed you, you walked faster chatting with me while Rachel was behind you. So the matter is sorted and that was an American thing,” Gachagua stated amidst laughter.
Assurance to wife
However, Gachagua assured Pastor Dorcas that he will hold her hand when they visit the US on assignment.
“My wife, Pastor Dorcas, all is not lost. Very soon the President will send me on a mission to the USA and I will go with you. You have my assurance that for the time we are on American soil, I will hold your hands until we leave the country, but when we return, please let us go back to our lives,” Gachagua told Pastor Dorcas.
