Ethiopia Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali has congratulated Kenya’s president-elect William Ruto.

Taking to his official social media, Abiy sent his congratulatory message, wishing the DP all the best in his new journey.

“My congratulations William Ruto on your election as the President of the Republic of Kenya. I wish you best of luck in your endeavours ahead and we look forward to working closely with you on common bilateral and regional interests,” he wrote.

His congratulatory message came shortly after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati announced the official results.

Ruto wins hotly contested poll

In the results announced at the Bomas of Kenya on Monday, August 15, 2022, Kenya Kwanza Alliance flagbearer William Ruto was declared the winner of Kenya’s 2022 presidential election with 7,176, 141 votes, which is 50.49% of the total votes cast.

The country’s Deputy President beat Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
