A 23-year-old boda boda rider Meshack Cheubei from Ziwa-Chelabal village In Uasin Gishu County has surrendered himself to the Ziwa police station after murdering his longtime girlfriend Hilda Jerop.

According to Chelabal village Elder Simeon Tarus, the suspect is said to have been angered by his girlfriend’s decision to end their relationship after being advised by her parents to concentrate on her college studies.

“The young man went to her girlfriend’s home where she met her mother who demanded an end to their relationship, Cheubei may have been angered by those words and immediately he went looking for a knife came back and after a brief conversation with Jerop at her home, he stubbed her by the neck, on the face and on both her right and left legs before disappearing,” Tarus said.

“The Young man was not married to the 24-year-old lady and the family of Jerop appears not to have been supportive of that relationship and they wanted their daughter to get back to school and continue with her college studies, unfortunately for Meshack he had expectations of settling down with Jerop.” the Village elder said.
