Atheists President Harrison Mumia attends National Prayer Breakfast
The Atheists In Kenya Society President Harrison Mumia on Thursday, May 30, 2024, honoured the invite to attend the National Prayer Breakfast meeting at Safari Park Hotel.
Mumia’s society on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, received an invite from the Parliament’s Prayer Breakfast Committee to attend the 21st Kenya National Prayer Breakfast.
Atheists invited
The Atheists Society in Kenya issued a statement to appreciate the invite, noting that it was historical and a welcomed gesture.
“The Atheists In Kenya Society has been invited by Parliament’s Prayer Breakfast Committee to attend the National Prayer Breakfast at the Safari Park Hotel on Thursday, 30th May 2024. This invitation is unprecedented in Kenyan history and a welcomed gesture,” the statement read.

Mumia expressed his excitement after receiving the invite, noting that he was delighted.

He further pointed out that he would attend the prayer meeting, but would not recognize the prayers that would come out of it.
Mumia also stated that he would ask President William Ruto to publicly recognize him and his members during the breakfast meeting.

President Ruto, however, did not recognize the atheists at the prayer breakfast meeting.
The atheists had this morning urged people to stop confusing atheism with satanism.
In a statement issued through The Atheists In Kenya Society social pages, they said Satan, just like God, is part of people’s delusion.
“Stop confusing atheism with satanism. Satan, like God, is part of your delusion too,” the post read.

The theme of the 21st prayer breakfast meeting was ‘Hope’ and aimed at giving hope to Kenyans amid tough economic times and feuding in government between President William Ruto’s allies and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
In his welcome message at the event, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi said reflection should not be confined to a one-day event.
Ruto and Gachagua were meeting in public for the first time since Sunday, May 19, 2024, when the DP saw off his boss on a historic state visit to the US.
