Titus Mulama ignores Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards gaffers for his coach of the month pick

Former Kenya international winger Titus Mulama has spoken out on his favourite candidate for the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League coach of the month for January.
The monthly award for January has attracted Gor Mahia coach Charles Akonnor, AFC Leopards’ Fred Ambani, and former international players Osborne Monday and Bernard Mwalala of Murang’a Seal and Bandari FC, respectively.
My pick
In a statement on Saturday, February 7, 2026, Mulama termed Monday as his best bet for the award after the coach led Murang’a Seal to a fairytale run in the month.
Monday’s side enjoyed a fine run, seeing off Mathare United, Bidco United, and Ulinzi Stars in the period.
The team’s only blip in the campaign came against a late, dramatic defeat to Gor Mahia at Nyayo National Stadium.

Overall, the side claimed a possible 15 points from 18.
Monday, however, faces immense competition against Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards, who enjoyed similar splendid results in the months.
Log leaders Gor Mahia were among the month’s most outstanding performers.
Gor and AFC Leopards dazzle
Charles Akonnor’s side were firing on all cylinders, winning five out of their six matches in the month.
The club only dropped a point in a barren draw on the road to Shaban FC.
Sofapaka, Murang’a Seal, Bidco United, and Mara Sugar were among the casualties of K’Ogalo’s hot streak in the month, the side concluding the campaign on 16 points out of a possible haul of 18.
Ambani’s Ingwe was also on an unstoppable run. with former international guiding Ingwe to four wins and registering only one defeat in five matches. The tactician also witnessed his side score nine goals and concede only two in the process.
Joe Waithira of Murang’a Seal and Fred Ambani clinched the accolade for the player and coach in December.
