The restructuring of Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia is taking shape in earnest as the club prepares for the upcoming 2026/27 top-flight season and a gruelling CAF Champions League campaign.

Under the guidance of head coach Charles Akonnor, K’Ogalo has embarked on a busy transfer window. The club on Friday, July 17, 2026, teased another high-profile signing of Humphrey Katasi, who is understood to have reached a personal agreement with Gor Mahia after parting ways with arch-rivals AFC Leopards at the end of last season.

Gor’s signing spree

Gor Mahia’s end-of-season transfer business has seen crucial reinforcements at the back. The record 22-time league champions have completed the signings of experienced defenders Daniel Sakari and Lesley Otieno.

To bolster their options between the posts, the club has also secured the services of former Equity FC custodian Michael Onyango.

The forward line has received the most attention in this window. Last season, Gor Mahia’s attack was heavily reliant on Ghanaian forward Ebenezer Assifuah, who stepped up with crucial league goals after top scorer Felix Mboya was sidelined with an injury.

Although injured, Mboya still finished as the club’s top scorer with seven goals. To ease the goalscoring burden, the club has added Hansel Ochieng, a forward joining from APS Bomet who has historically been a thorn in Gor Mahia’s flesh.

Additionally, Paul Okoth also joined from Ulinzi Stars, a striker who finished as the league’s second-best scorer last season, just behind Joe Waithira.

These new arrivals, alongside the Ghanaian duo of Assifuah and Ebenezer Adukwaw, give coach Akonnor a formidable and deeply rotated attacking frontline.

Machaka joins K’Ogalo

In midfield, Gor Mahia has secured the signature of highly-rated midfielder Enock Machaka on a two-year deal from Nairobi United. Machaka was one of the standout players in the National Super League and has now opted for a fresh challenge with the Premier League champions.

With incoming arrivals, several notable figures have exited the club. Enock Morrison, the reigning KPL Most Valuable Player, has left the club to pursue a new challenge abroad with Sudanese giants Al-Merrikh.

Long-serving duo and club captains Philemon Otieno and Ernest Wendo have also bid farewell to the Green Army following the expiration of their contracts, while midfielder Fidel Origa has confirmed his exit, crossing over to league rivals KCB FC.
