Larry Madowo prepares Charlton Athletic on pressure ahead after signing Sichenje

Larry Madowo has predicted that the administrators of English Championship side Charlton Athletic FC’s social media accounts will encounter pressure after Harambee Stars defender Collins Sichenje joined the club.
The former AFC Leopards centre back signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the London-based club, moving from Serbian SuperLiga side FK Vojvodina.
Reacting to the news of the acquisition of the Harambee Stars defender on Tuesday, February 3, 2025, Madowo stated that Kenyans who continue to celebrate the success of their fellow countrymen will rally behind Sichenje as they have done for others plying their trade outside the country.
He predicted that Kenyans would reach out frequently, piling pressure on the administrators of the club’s social media accounts
The journalist said that the requests will range from needing very regular updates on Sichenje’s progress to demanding random pictures of the Kenyan international.
“This admin doesn’t know it yet, but Kenyans are about to start demanding random pictures of Sichenje and very regular updates,” Madowo said.

True to his prediction, football enthusiasts jokingly delved into the matter, jokingly setting their expectations.
One comment caught journalist Linda Oguttu’s eye as Kenyans flooded the club’s X account to celebrate the move with requests flying.

“You guys are ungovernable. What kind of rules are these? ” Linda stated in reference to a list presented by one Kenyan fan.
Kenyans have in the past followed the progress of sportsmen playing their trade outside the country with lively banter on social media and hilarious requests.
Lively banter on Ryan Ogam’s progress & Aldrine Kibet’s performance
Earlier in January 2026, Kenyans flooded the social media platforms of Austrian Bundesliga club Wolfsberger AC seeking updates on Harambee Stars striker Ryan Wesley Ogam, who plays for the club.
Leaving no doubt that they have been following the Kenyan international’s progress, netizens camped on the club’s page seeking to know why Ogam has not featured in recent matches.
Blending humour with mastery of the Austrian league, netizens passed their message across in a lively banter that did not escape the attention of the administrators.
For another Kenyan international, Aldrine Kibet, who plies his trade in Spain, the administrator of Celta Vigo Fortunas’ social media accounts has learnt to get along with Kenyan fans.
Swahili occasionally features on the club’s social media accounts while keeping fans updated on the team’s progress and Kibet’s performance.
“ Another standout performance from Kibet, scoring twice in a big win against Compostela. Ako moto! Kijana yuko form, ni nyara safi! (He is in top form and in excellent shape),” reads a recent post by the club appreciating Kibet’s superb form.
